1. The Meghdut Digital Platform: The Meghdut Digital Platform (MDP) is an online platform following the ‘marketplace’ model, where various onboarded product sellers (“Merchants”) offer their products for sales through the MDP in the e-commerce format where buyers (“Customers”) can log in, select merchants, browse/select desired products, add to cart, checkout and then complete the purchase process by either making online payment through the Platform’s payment gateway or decide to pay on delivery (COD) and have the purchased items delivered to desired address.

Alternatively, Customers may directly contact our WhatsApp number and pace their orders either verbally or through a WhatsApp message.

2. Delivery/Shipping Coverage: MDP’s area of coverage is currently limited to greater Kolkata for food items. For non-food items, if outstation shipping is feasible through Speed Post or Courier, the same will be effected.

3. Shipping/Delivery Modes: Edible, perishable and breakable products are delivered via MDP’s own delivery team or through delivery partners. Non-Food products may also be shipped via Speed Post or reliable courier services apart from delivery team/delivery partners depending upon nature of product, convenience and urgency.

4. Platform Obligations: MDP aims for high standards. Customers can report issues via customer service or through the grievance mechanism described on the MDP homepage.

5. Customer Obligation: Customers must furnish accurate delivery address and suitable landmark for ease of timely delivery. Customers must treat the delivery person respectfully. Harassment may lead to restricted access to the Platform. Claims resulting from inappropriate conduct are the Customer’s responsibility.

6. Delivery Time: Delivery time depends on the product, merchant, stock availability, shipping destination and location. However, all food items are delivered within 24 hours of order placement. As far as perishable items are concerned (e.g. Fish, Meat, Paneer etc.), the removal from stock point’s refrigeration to Customer’s delivery address will not exceed two hours. In case of non-perishable, non-food items, the delivery will be effected as per terms and conditions of Speed Post or Courier company.

7. Delivery Charges: Charges for Platform-arranged delivery (within greater Kolkata area) vary by distance (Rs. 30 to Rs. 50 + GST). B2B/bulk deliveries are charged case-by-case. Some deliveries may be free depending on merchant or order value. For deliveries made through Speed Post or Courier, delivery charges are at actuals. All delivery charges are itemized in the Invoice, sent via WhatsApp.

8. Acceptance of Product and COD Payment: Upon delivery, customers must check products, package sizes and quantities delivered against accompanying invoice. The condition of packaging should also be visually inspected to ensure no apparent damage. For COD payments, payment by UPI QR code is preferred. Cash is also accepted if UPI fails/not available.
